Our net is on Wednesday evenings on the KC5OOS Paris repeater at 8:00pm CST. The frequency is 147.040, tone is 100.0, with a positive offset. The purpse of our net is just for fun. We pass general information, rag-chew, trade, sell, and swap radio gear. If you have a problem, we may have a solution. If you have found a great way of doing something, please pass it along. We normally have between 15 to 25 regular check ins, as well as numerous "courtesy" checks. Most nets average a total number of around 20 but have had as high as 44 check ins. Our group has made many new friends around the world as a direct result of this net. We have also had lots of scanner listeners join our ranks of amateurs because of this net. The net was started Dec 21, 2005 ( almost two years before this official group was started) to give people in the area a time and place to meet on the air and have fun. We started the net on a trial basis for 4 weeks, then took a vote during the 4th net and had an overwhleming , expression of desire to continue the net. On the night of the 86th net (AUG 8, 2007 ) we decided to turn the net over to the care of this new group that had just been officially formed. We want to thank Paul, Karmyn, Kody, and Kaleb Green for use of the repeater for the net. During the net we link the repeater to echolink, under KI5DX-L or KC5OOS-R. The repeater is linked ONLY during net times, as to avoid possibly spewing QRM. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to check in. Even if you feel that you do not have anything to add to the net, please check in and offer any comments you may have. You never know who is needing and or wanting to hear what you have to say. Our net is very informal; again, our primary purpose is to have fun, get to know each other, and enjoy the HOBBY of Ham Radio!!!

Alternate Net Frequencies May Include:

444.475+ pl tone 100 hz FM

146.550 simplex FM

28.425 USB

29.600 simplex FM

52.525 simplex FM

Thank you all very much for volunteering! Become a Paris Texas Radio Group Net Control Volunteer! The PTRG is currently seeking new individuals as Net Control Stations. No experience is necessary, although a reasonable RF signal into the repeater is recommended.  If interested please contact Richard KI5DX for a listing in the next Net-Ops rotation. Easy Guide to the PTRG Wednesday Net for Control Ops:

Coming up with a net topic is completely at your discretion. This subject does not always need to be 100% Ham related. If you want to monitor other frequencies be sure to have that radio gear ready to go and be sure to announce it during your preamble.

It's a good idea to read through the Preamble a few times for practice before you start the net. Perhaps even a day or so before the net.

To get started you will need a pad of paper, a few writing utensils, and a comfortable chair. Perhaps a glass of water. At the top of your paper create 4 columns. Call Sign - Name - Location-comments.

Relax. Don't watch the clock and don't panic. At 8pm you are in the Net-Ops drivers seat. Take a deep breath, and get ready to Have some fun!

Suggested Net Preamble:

(It's okay to personalize.... Really...)

----

Welcome to the ____ edition of the Wednesday night Paris net. This net is sponsored by the Paris Texas Radio Group and meets each Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM.

----

The Net is open to all Radio Amateurs. We especially welcome new Amateurs and visitors and travelers in our area.

----

This informal but directed net’s purpose is for general ragchew, information, trading radio gear and really, just for fun.

----

To allow for emergency traffic, I request that you wait for the courtesy tone between transmissions and that you drop the repeater periodically if your transmission is longer than a couple of minutes.

----

Tonight we also have echo link up and running under the callsign KC5OOS-R

----

At this time are there any announcements?

(This is a good time to announce the area nets, hamfest info , etc, most of it can be found on this site)

----

I will now ask for check in’s. If you are mobile, Low power or short time please signify, and I will call for your comments first.

Check-in's now, your call-sign phonetically and your first name please .

If the check-in's are coming in too fast and you are having difficulty keeping up, don't be afraid to ask them to slow down a little.

After the first call-up go through your list for confirmation and/or corrections. Quite often check-in's will bring other topics of interest to the net.

After the first round be sure to ask for echolink stations as well.

Mobile stations first. Pausing every 10 minutes or so and asking for more check-in's. Remember to re-ID your station by your first name and call-sign.

Before closing the net, ask for any last minute check-in's or final comments.

Closing Statement: (please modify it as you see fit.)

This will now be the last final call-

Any more last minute comments or late check-in's?
